The Family Guides to Understanding are two-page flyers written in easy-to-understand language that answer key questions (what, why, who, how, and when) about Washington’s assessment programs. Information is also included about how families can support their student's success.

The Family Guides will not be published for 2020-21.

National PTA has compiled resources to help parents learn more about college and career standards aligned assessments, and includes information specific to Washington .

Students in Washington are tested every year in English language arts (ELA), math and science. Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams determine how each student in special education participates in state testing.
