K-12 Data Governance
K-12 Data Governance is a work group that oversees the development and implementation of a K-12 education data system for financial, student, and educator data. Established in 2009 by the Legislature the data system serves requirements for teachers, parents, superintendents, school boards, OSPI, the legislature, and the public.
Data Governance membership includes representatives from school districts, data users, and statewide organizations. Meeting agendas and materials are accessible online. The Data Governance Group maintains a Policy and Procedure Manual that outlines the data governance system for establishing data management priorities and data quality practices. The work group is periodically reviewed and monitored by the Educational Data Center and the Legislative Evaluation and Accountability Program Committee.
