Charter School Program Grant

For More Information

For more information about Washington's charter schools, please contact the Washington State Charter School Commission.

The Washington State Charter School Program (CSP) provides a grant and technical assistance for up to 3-years to new charter schools. OSPI was awarded $6.9 million to administer annual sub-grant competitions from 2016–19. OSPI administers the Charter School Program through the administrative costs allowable under the CSP grant. The USDOE awarded OSPI this grant in 2016.

CSP grants may be awarded for reasonable, one-off expenses associated with planning, design, and implementation of a new school in the form of a 3-year grant for charter schools applying in the year before the launch of a new school. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to:

  • equipment and furnishing (implementation years 1 and 2)
  • professional development
  • board training
  • curriculum and supplies (implementation years 1 and 2)
  • library development
  • technology
  • software, etc.
