NEW Provide Feedback on Updated Educational Technology Standards by 4/11/18
OSPI is in the final stages of a year-long process of updating the state's
2008 Educational Technology Standards. One of the important steps in the update
process is the opportunity for public feedback on the updated standards.
Educational stakeholders are invited to provide feedback and share
implementation ideas through an online survey, with three levels of feedback
(and accompanying time commitment) to choose from. This can be done individually
or as a group, with the opportunity to remain anonymous in both instances. The
available now and will remain open through April 11, 2018.
Before providing feedback on the survey, educators are encouraged to visit the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) website to get an introduction to the
2016 ISTE Standards for Students. Washington will be using as the basis for their updated state Educational Technology Standards. They may also find the short
ISTE Standards for Students video helpful.
The three levels of feedback available are:
Version 1: presents the 7 high-level Standards, and invites implementation ideas on each one, as well as basic overall feedback. [Estimated time: 10-15 minutes]
Version 2: presents the 7 Standards and the accompanying Performance Indicators by grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12); respondents choose a single grade band to provide implementation ideas, and can also provide overall feedback at the end. Interested respondents can repeat the survey multiple times if they wish to address other grade bands. [Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per grade band]
Version 3: presents the 7 Standards and the accompanying Performance Indicators, Student Performance Samples & Connections to Other Standards by grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12); respondents choose a single grade band to download, provide input and suggestions, and upload the edited document, as well as provide overall feedback at the end. Interested respondents can repeat the survey multiple times if they wish to address other grade bands. [Estimated time: 1-2 hours per grade band]
