Keven is so much more than a custodian. He notices the little things like slippery patches, smudges, loose cinderblocks – making sure kids and staff are entering a building that is safe, clean, and welcoming. Keven knows the names and stories of most Shiloh Hills students - engaging them in small, but meaningful conversation as he works through his daily routine. Kids who need extra attention get it as Keven goes about fixing shoes with duct tape, repairing glasses, cleaning up spills, and generally going the extra mile for the whole school community.
Keven says, “Everybody thinks all you do is clean toilets, but there's a lot more to it. It's all about keeping everyone safe. It's about taking care of the kids and relating to them. There's a whole lot of love in these buildings, this one especially. During my childhood, things were tough and it matters to make sure kids are taken care of.”
