TitleII Part A

Program Requirements

To qualify for Title IIA funds, each school district must conduct an assessment of local needs for professional development and hiring. There should be a clear connection between identified needs and Title IIA activities.

Requirements for Districts

  • Complete a comprehensive needs assessment to identify the subject matter knowledge and teaching skills needed to provide students with the opportunity to meet state student academic achievement standards.
  • Develop a comprehensive and collaborative plan to use Title II Part A funds.
  • Submit annually an application on iGrants to the Title II Part A office at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
  • Complete an annual performance report on iGrants.


Allowable Uses of Title II A Funds
Consistent with local planning requirements and its needs assessment, the Title II, Part A program offers an LEA the flexibility to design and implement a wide variety of activities. See allowable costs.



Comprehensive Professional Development Planning

 

 

Analyze student data and identify student learning targets.
 
Provide ongoing support for learning and implementation of new knowledge, skills, and processes.

To obtain assistance, click on the area of interest.

Identify target(s) for teacher learning and development.
Design and implement professional development and evaluation. Identify results-driven professional development aligned with targeted learning areas.

Private Schools
Private schools may access Title II Part A funds for professional development that meets the needs of their teachers. Planning for this professional development occurs through a consultation process between private school and school district personnel before the school district submits its Title II Part A application on iGrants. School districts will find a formula on iGrants which calculates the amount of funding needed to reserve for “equitable services” for private school professional development activities.
