The third grade 2009 Mathematics Assessment consisted of 8 strands:

  • 5 content strands: Number Sense (NS), Measurement (ME), Geometric Sense (GS), Probability and Statistics (PS), and Algebraic Sense (AS)
  • 3 process strands: Solves Problems and Reasons Logically (SR), Communicates Understanding (CU), and Makes Connections (MC)

There were 22 multiple choice items (1 point) and 8 short answer items (2 points) for a total of 38 points.
