is made possible through an existing agreement between the state of Washington and the kingdom of Spain. We supervise and implement several K-12 education programs that aim to further the understanding of the Spanish language and the Hispanic culture.
Write in Spanish Contest (Escribo En Español Contest)
Each year the Center for Spanish Studies sponsors a school contest for K-12 students of Spanish language. The theme is announced in the fall, and teachers are welcome to sign up their students to submit drawings, pieces of writing, or photography in early spring. The pieces are judged by a committee and the award winners are honored at a ceremony at the State Capitol in June. To learn more (in Spanish), see
Escribo En Español Contest.
Visiting Teachers
Highly-qualified teachers from Spain of both elementary and secondary education
can be hired through the school districts. These teachers are supported by
OSPI's International Education
Visiting and Exchange Teacher Program. If your district or school is
interested in applying or learning more, contact Eva González-Abad at
eva.gonzalez@k12.wa.us or
eva.gonzalez@mecd.es.
