Incident Command System (ICS) Training
This class introduces participants to the Incident Command System (ICS) and how it may be used to manage emergencies or disasters in the school setting, and is the equivalent of the FEMA IS-100sc curriculum. Building principals in Washington are required to be trained and certified in ICS. Students who take this class will be adequately prepared to test for certification through the FEMA website, meeting the certification requirement. Topics covered include school safety planning requirements, history of the ICS system, roles and responsibilities of incident commanders and other staff positions, common terminology, application of ICS to school emergencies, guidelines for establishing a command post, and an overview of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying and Cyberbullying PowerPoints
The following four PowerPoint presentations are provided to assist districts with the harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) training requirements of RCW 28A.300.285. The four presentations are in an FAQ format and include:

1. HIB FAQ – 2011: This presentation covers background and reporting requirements of the legislation.
2. BULLYING Intro FAQ – 2011: This presentation provides a general background into bullying and harassment prevention and intervention.
3. CYBERBULLYING Intro FAQ – 2011: This presentation provides a general background into cyberbullying.
4. HIB FAQ (LEA Adaptable) – 2011: This presentation is designed to be adapted by local school districts to include district-specific information. A brief instructions document, HIB FAQ ( LEA Adaptable) – Instructions , accompanies this presentation.
5. Best Practices in the Prevention of Bullying was presented by Dr. Susan Limber of Clemson University, as part of a February 17, 2012, webinar made available through the American School Health Association.

Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC)
The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission provides education, training and the latest information, resources and links for criminal justice professionals. The CJTC has a vision to be a national model for criminal justice training through a safe, positive, innovative and interactive community environment that is responsive to the professional development needs of criminal justice personnel. The CJTC training schedule reflects upcoming courses for security personnel.

Basic Gang Training for School Personnel, Monday, November 7, 2011
The School Safety Center and the Criminal Justice Training Commission will offer a 4-hour introductory training on Gangs in Schools on Monday, November 7 at the CJTC in Burien.
