Athletic Programs (Self-Evaluation)
State law (Chapter 28A.640 and
WAC 392-190-030) requires each school district
to evaluate its recreational and athletic program at least once each year to
ensure that equal opportunities are available to male and female students in
interscholastic, club, or intramural athletics which are operated, sponsored, or
otherwise provided by the school district. Districts are required to submit a
summary of the results from their annual self-evaluation to OSPI via the Equity
Assurance Report on
iGrants (package 447).
We have developed worksheets to support school districts’ efforts with this process. School districts may choose to develop their own forms and methods in collecting data at the team and building level -- as long as all areas of the components are evaluated and documented.
