Blue Ribbon Schools Program

Every fall Washington nominates up to seven schools to the Department of Education for the Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

Nominated schools must fall into one of two categories:

  • Schools with Disadvantaged Students Showing Dramatic Improvement in Student Performance.
  • Schools Performing in the Top Ten Percent on State Assessments.

Nominated schools are required to submit an application. Blue Ribbon Schools are selected in the following fall and honored by the Department of Education at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

More information about the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Blue Ribbon Schools Program is available from the U.S. Department of Education or by contacting Gayle Pauley at gayle.pauley@k12.wa.us or (360) 725-6100.
