National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
2009 Score Release

Dear 2008-09 Candidate:

First, congratulations to all of you 2009 NBCTs! National Board certification is a three-year process. Just like NBPTS, OSPI believes that while some may complete and certify in the first year, most candidates will use some, if not all of the three-year candidacy window to certify.

National Board Certification is a rigorous process and one that requires a tremendous amount of support. OSPI will offer candidates a “first stop” if retakes are needed. We are here to provide resources that you may need in the weeks to come, and to offer support such as facilitation and guidance.

Advanced candidates can receive support from University Support Providers and District Support Providers. If you worked with a cohort please make contact with your support provider and let them know what kind of advanced candidate support you may need in the weeks/months to come.

Congratulations on completing such a rigorous and accomplished certification process.

Sincerely,

Michaela, NBCT AYA/ELA
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification Coordinator
Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction

More information is provided in the table below or in the Letter from OSPI to NBPTS Candidates

I am a newly certified National Board Certified Teacher:

The NBCT bonus is directed and funded by the Washington state legislature.

OSPI manages the disbursement of these bonuses through the iGrants system.

Districts have until the 15th of each month to submit the names of their NBCTs. The bonuses are then dispersed the 1st of the month in that district’s apportionment.

Districts can submit at any time during the year before June 15th, 2010. We highly recommend they submit as early in the year as possible. The next i-Grants submission is due December 15th, 2009.
