Professional Certification for Teachers
Professional Growth Plan
The PGP is a foundational component of educator preparation, induction, professional certification, and ongoing professional growth. The PGP is developed based on a thorough self-assessment that considers current student learning and performance, capacity to effect that performance, feedback from colleagues and administrators, reflection, school and district improvement plans, and professional interests. The PGP will determine what types of professional development activities you will participate in during the Core and what new learning you made need in order to meet standard in all areas.

Key Things to Remember:
The PGP should be directly connected to student learning. That is, what new learning do you need to have a greater impact on student learning relative to the Criteria and Descriptions of Practice? How will you assess your success? That is, what evidence of student learning and performance will be useful to analyze?
The timeline of activities should primarily focus on your own professional development activities that are needed to improve student learning. This might include coursework, workshops, conferences, action research, book studies, etc. You might select to also develop a timeline for implementing new strategies in your classroom and a plan for collecting evidence but this is not required on the PGP.
