Renewal of a Career and Technical Educator (CTE) Initial Certificate

To renew an Initial CTE Certificate, you must meet the training and experience requirements listed below.


Current Requirements

  • Hold or have held an Initial CTE Certificate

New Requirements starting November 11, 2018

  • Hold or have held an Initial CTE certificate.
  • Must have completed 10 quarter credits or 100 clock hours or four PGP's in CTE within five years or a combination of any of the listed hours.

May apply 12 months from expiration of CTE certificate.

CLOCK HOUR NOTE: Clock hour courses related to CTE teaching: This would include courses such as classroom management, formative assessment, differentiated instruction, and culturally-responsive teaching strategies. For more information please contact the Professional Educator Standards Board.

STEM NOTE: For all CTE Certificate renewal applicants submitting after 9/1/2019, they must complete the STEM requirements as part of their renewal clock hours.​ RCW 28A.410.2212
