Career Tech Educator Certification

To Renew an Initial CTE Certificate
(valid for three years)

Requirements

The candidate must:

  • Hold or have held an initial CTE certificate
  • Have completed 3 quarter hours or 30 clock hours of CTE educator training in the subject matter closest to the specialty area or endorsement you are certified to teach since the issuance of the MOST RECENT initial certificate

Candidates are limited to two renewals of the initial CTE certificate.

To Apply for a Continuing CTE Teacher Certificate
(valid for five years)

Requirements

The candidate must have completed all requirements for the initial CTE teacher certificate, PLUS...

The candidate must:

  • Have completed at least 9 quarter hours or 90 clock hours of CTE educator training in the CTE subject matter closest to the specialty area or endorsement you currently hold, completed subsequent to the conferral of the baccalaureate degree or issuance of the initial certificate
  • Document completion of two years of teaching/coordination in the CTE subject matter certified to teach with a school district or skills center.
