For Those Who Hold A CTE Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

A career and technical education occupational information specialist certificate authorizes service as an occupational information specialist in Washington school districts or skills centers.

If you hold a ONE-YEAR OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE you have the following options:

• Renew the ONE-YEAR Occupational Information Specialist Certificate (two times)
• Apply for a THREE-YEAR Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

If you hold a THREE-YEAR OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE you have the following options:

• Renew the THREE-YEAR Occupational Information Specialist Certificate (one time)
• Apply for a FIVE-YEAR Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

If you hold a FIVE-YEAR OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE you have the following options:

• Renew the FIVE-YEAR Occupational Information Specialist Certificate (every 5 years)

Candidate must have held a 1-year certificate within the past two years

Candidate must have:

• Completed 120 hours of service as an occupational information specialist during the life of the previous certificate
• Completed a total of 9 quarter credits (or the equivalent) of approved professional education
• Earned 3 quarter credits (or the equivalent) of approved professional education

Candidate must:

• Hold a 3-year occupational information specialist certificate to renew
• Not have previously renewed the 3-year occupational information specialist certificate

Candidate must have:

• Completed 120 hours of service as an occupational information specialist during the life of the previous certificate
• Completed a total of 9 quarter credits (or the equivalent) of approved professional education
• Earned 3 quarter credits (or the equivalent) of approved professional education

Candidate must have held a 3-year CTE certificate within the preceding 2 years
(to renew, must have held a 5-year CTE certificate)

Candidate must have:

• Two (2) years of CTE occupational information specialist experience during the life of the previous certificate
• Completed a total of 18 quarter credits (or the equivalent) of professional education
