A career and technical education occupational information specialist certificate authorizes service as an occupational information specialist in Washington school districts or skills centers.

If you hold a ONE-YEAR OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE you have the following options:

To Renew a 1-Year Occupational Information Specialist Certificate
Requirements

Candidate must:

  • Hold a valid 1-year occupational information specialist certificate to renew
  • Not have renewed the 1-year occupational information specialist certificate more than once previously

To Apply for a 3-Year Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

Requirements

Candidate must have held a 1-year certificate within the past two years

Candidate must have:

  • Completed 120 hours of service as an occupational information specialist during the life of the previous certificate
  • Completed a total of 9 quarter credits (or 90 clock hours) of approved professional education
  • Earned 3 quarter credits (or 30 clock hours) of approved professional education

Renew a 3-Year Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

Requirements

Candidate must:

  • Hold a 3-year occupational information specialist certificate to renew
  • Not have previously renewed the 3-year occupational information specialist certificate

Candidate must have:

  • Completed 120 hours of service as an occupational information specialist during the life of the previous certificate
  • Completed a total of 9 quarter credits (or 90 clock hours) of approved professional education
  • Earned 3 quarter credits (or 30 clock hours) of approved professional education

To Apply for a 5-Year Occupational Information Specialist Certificate

Requirements

Candidate must have held a 3-year CTE certificate within the preceding 2 years
(to renew, must have held a 5-year CTE certificate)

Candidate must have:

  • Two (2) years of CTE occupational information specialist experience during the life of the previous certificate
  • Completed a total of 18 quarter credits (or 180 clock hours) of professional education

Requirements

Candidate must have:

  • Two (2) years of CTE occupational information specialist experience during the life of the previous certificate
