- Must have completed all requirements for the Initial CTE Certificate
- Must have completed at least nine quarter hours or 90 clock hours of CTE educator training in the CTE subject matter or completed subsequent to the conferral of the baccalaureate degree or issuance of the initial certificate
- Must provide documentation of two years of teaching/coordination in the CTE subject matter certified to teach with an authorized employer, e.g., school district or skills center.
- Must attest to completion of an issues of abuse course for more information see WAC 181-79A-030(9). This course MUST be entered into the ‘PD Hours’ section of your E-Certification account prior to applying
NATIONAL BOARD NOTE: An educator who has earned or holds a
valid National Board Professional Teacher certificate, may use the 90 clock
hours earned with completion of the National Boards to upgrade to the Continuing
ISSUES OF ABUSE COURSE NOTE: The issues of abuse course or course work must include information related to identification of physical, emotional, sexual, and substance abuse; the impact on learning and behavior; the responsibilities of an educator to report abuse or to provide assistance to victimized children; and methods of teaching about abuse and its prevention.
NOTE: If you hold or have held a Continuing CTE teaching certificate then you qualify for the general education lifetime substitute certificate. Apply online through the E-Certification system.
