New Requirements starting November 11, 2018
- Must have completed all requirements for the Initial CTE certificate
- Must have completed 15 quarter hours or 150 clock hours of CTE educator training in the CTE related field or completed subsequent to the conferral of the bachelor's dgree or issuance of the Initial CTE certificate.
- Must provide documentation of two years of teaching/coordination in the CTE
related subject area certified to teach with an authorized employer, e.g.,
school district or skills center. Download
- Must attest to completion of the issues of abuse course. For more information
see WAC 181-79A-030(9). This course MUST be entered into the "PD Hours" tab of your E-Certification account prior to applying.
CLOCK HOUR NOTE: Clock hour courses related to CTE teaching: This would include courses such as classroom management, formative assessment, differentiated instruction, and culturally-responsive teaching strategies. For more information please contact the Professional Educator Standards Board.
NATIONAL BOARD NOTE: An educator who has earned or holds a
valid National Board Professional Teacher certificate, may use the 90 clock
hours earned with completion of the National Boards to upgrade to the Continuing
ISSUES OF ABUSE COURSE NOTE: The issues of abuse course or
course work must include information related to identification of physical,
emotional, sexual, and substance abuse; the impact on learning and behavior; the
responsibilities of an educator to report abuse or to provide assistance to
victimized children; and methods of teaching about abuse and its prevention.
NOTE: If you hold or have held a Continuing CTE teaching
certificate then you qualify for the general education lifetime substitute
