All Professional Certificate programs include the following three phases.

1

2

Professional Growth Plan Implementation:
Candidate gathers evidence on the benchmarks and develops capacity in the major areas of focus; may implement new strategies and participate in a variety of professional development activities.

3 Panel Presentation:

The Candidate presents evidence to a panel including practicing administrators.

Additional Program Information

Integrated Products:

The demonstration of the standards will be highly contextual. That said there are leadership priorities that are common regardless of situational differences. Therefore, candidates will complete integrated products to demonstrate their effectiveness as school leaders. These integrated products provide a consistent structure and emphasis for all candidates. These Products include:

  1. The Administrator as Advocate for Student Learning (PDF) (Word)
  2. The Administrator as Communicator and Change Agent (PDF) (Word)
  3. The Administrator as a Leader in Building Community (PDF) (Word)
  4. The Administrator as Manager of the Organization (PDF) (Word)

All candidates will complete Product One: The Administrator as Advocate for Student Learning and will use any of the other Products needed to demonstrate all six standards. The panel of administrative peers will assess Product One.

The degree to which the Professional Certificate process is job-embedded and contributes to meaningful personal professional development will partly depend on the choices you make for selecting additional Products. Careful selection of Product(s) can help you enhance and develop your practice. Consider the following when selecting your additional Product(s):

  • Which Product will provide the greatest stretch and growth opportunity?
  • What are your areas for Professional Growth on your PGP? Which Product will provide the most meaningful structure for addressing those goals?
  • What are the major initiatives or projects on the horizon in your district and at your school? Which Product is most closely aligned?

Product 1 Narrative Examples:

  1. Elementary Principal (PDF)
  2. Elementary Principal 2 (PDF)
  3. Middle School Assistant Principal (PDF)
  4. High School Assistant Principal (PDF)
  5. Alternative High School Principal (PDF)
  6. Special Education Assistant Director (PDF)
