Limited Principal Certificates


Requirements

These certificates may only be issued to those who do not qualify for a regular principal certificate. Individuals can only apply for a limited certificate if requested by a school district or private school employer.

Emergency Principal Certificate
The Emergency Certificate qualifies a principal candidate for employment if the candidate has a minimum of a master’s degree and has substantially completed a principal preparation program, but has not yet qualified for the Residency Certificate, and if the school cannot find a regularly certificated principal. The Emergency Certificate enables the applicant to be assigned for up to one school year. Verification of Teacher/Principal Program Enrollment

This certificate is initiated by the school district. Please log into your Education Data System (EDS) portal to apply for your district request.


Principal Exchange Permit
Principal exchange permits may be issued by the Superintendent of Public Instruction to an individual admitted to the United States for the purpose of serving as an exchange principal. The exchange permit shall be valid for one year and may be renewed once.
