WELPA Placement Test
The Placement Test is used to determine initial student eligibility for English language development (ELD) services. The Placement Test is given to all students whose families answer “yes” to question #2 on the Home Language Survey: “Is your child’s first language a language other than English?”
*Note: The WLPT-II Placement Test is to be used to determine initial student eligibility for English language development (ELD) services for students attending school in SY2011-12. Copies of the WLPT-II Placement Test can no longer be ordered, and districts in need of copies should contact neighboring districts that may have a surplus. At the end of SY2011-12, any remaining copies of the WLPT-II Placement Test should be shredded or disposed of according to the district’s plan for secure materials. The WELPA Placement Test is to be used for all students attending school in SY2012-13.
