Transcript Development & Frequently Asked Questions

OSPI, the Washington Student Achievement Council, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, and the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board are authorized by WAC 392-415 to:

  • Establish standardized criteria for high school transcripts issued by all common school districts; and
  • Establish definitions for credits, hours, and marking system so that common school district high school transcripts are standardized.

A new transcript format, including new elements and values, is required for all high school student transcripts starting in the 2015-16 school year. School district staff are encouraged to work with their student information system vendors to incorporate the new changes as quickly as possible, but no later than December 31, 2015.

This guide is only intended for public schools that fall under the supervision of the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Home schools and private schools are not required to follow the same transcript regulations.
