Title I

Pilot Project — K–6 Arts Integration that Supports Title I Schoolwide Program Goals

The Title I, Part A office launched a pilot project with ArtsEd Washington that integrates arts-based lesson plans and instruction within schoolwide programs across Washington. The intent of this K-6 pilot is to help educators integrate the visual arts as a strategy to increase student performance. In the 2015-16 school year, Cohort 1 districts began pilot project activities.

The K-6 visual arts lessons developed by ArtsEd Washington is a vibrant and rigorous program of visual arts content and instruction. Lesson plans integrate state learning standards for the arts — aligned with CCSS standards for ELA and math. Pilot schools will focus these strategies and resources on the Title I core content areas.
