Characteristics of Improved Districts – Performance Rubric Review
Published February 2011

The District Self-Assessment Handbook and accompanying rubric assist district staff to assess the effectiveness of district programs and policies in order to improve performance in all of the district’s schools. This handbook supports an intensive examination of the district’s practices compared to 13 research-based themes of improved districts, in order to identify key district-wide strategies that will have a substantial impact on creating the conditions for student success.
