Mathematics and Reading Benchmark Assessments
The Mathematics and Reading Benchmark Assessments are an opportunity for the state’s lowest performing districts and schools to identify student strengths and areas for improvement.
Districts and schools identified for services under the Washington Performance Management Framework are eligible to implement the benchmark assessments. Additional schools and districts are eligible to implement the Mathematics Benchmark Assessments through the Educational Service Districts.
The benchmarks assessments are developed by OSPI’s Secondary Education and School Improvement division.
Exam reports and analysis are provided by Riverside Publishing’s DataDirector system.
The Mathematics Benchmark Assessments (MBAs) are standards-based interim assessments developed for K-8 math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Integrated Math 1, 2 and 3. MBAs are administered in fall, winter, and spring of each year in order to ensure educators are provided ongoing information about the teaching and learning of standards.
The Reading Benchmark Assessments (RBAs) are standards-based interim assessments developed for grades 1–10. RBAs for grades 2–10 will be administered in fall, winter, and spring to ensure educators are provided ongoing information about teaching and learning in relation to Washington state reading comprehension and vocabulary standards. RBAs for grade 1 will be administered in the spring only. More information about RBAs will be posted when available.
