Washington Civil Liberties
Public Education Program
A public education program in the state of Washington that teaches about past
injustices, such as the incarceration of the Japanese in World War II America,
to guard against similar injustices occurring again.
Daniel J. Evans Civic Education
Award
Named after former Washington State Governor Daniel J. Evans, this award
showcases 3rd through 12th grade students for civic leadership in their
community as well as successful completion of a Civics Classroom Based
Assessment (CBA).
Gilder-Lehrman History
Teacher of the Year Award
The national History Teacher of the Year award honors outstanding elementary and
secondary American history teachers from around the country. Washington selects
one state finalist every year to forward to the national program.
Washington State Legislative Youth Advisory Council
(LYAC)
Established by the Washington Legislature in 2005, the Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC) serves as the formal voice for Washington youth to examine issues of importance and advise the Washington State Legislature on these issues and related legislation.
