Social Studies Graduation Requirements
All public high school students are required to meet statewide graduation requirements in order to earn a diploma. Currently 2.5 credits in Social Studies are required for graduation; however, recently the State Board of Education adopted revised graduation requirements affecting the class of 2016. This increases graduation requirements in Social Studies to 3.0 credits.

.5 Social Studies District Choice |
In accordance with the recent State Board of Education amended graduation requirements (WAC 180-51-067), the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction plans to review the
K-12 Social Studies Learning Standards and Recommended Scope and Sequence for alignment with the new requirements, including the newly required civics course. School districts will be notified of any adjustments and resources available prior to the start of the 2012-13 school year.
