Social Studies Learning Standards
The K-12 Social Studies Learning Standards consist of Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) that describe what students should know and be able to do in civics, economics, geography, history and social study skills.
Washington State K-12 Social Studies Learning Standards Version 1.2 provides updates to Version 1, published in 2008. The updates were made as a result of the changes in 2009 of graduation credit requirements for
social studies for the class
of 2016 (RCW.28A.230.090).
The Standards can be found below and the accompanying
Errata Document summarizes
the adjustments made in 11th and 12th Grades.
