  Secondary Education

Secondary Education provides leadership and resources to Washington state schools and counselors who ready students for academic success and career preparation. We are also engaged in strengthening the links between secondary and postsecondary education. We want students to have a seamless transition between education levels, and future success in work and life in our global society.

Find the information, policy, regulation and school-level resources every school needs to build a powerful, standards-based comprehensive guidance and counseling program.

Career Guidance WA
School counselors use this holistic guidance and life-planning program for middle and high school students. Career Guidance WA helps to establish key program components, and integrate best practices in ways that can improve programs and services.

GATE — Graduation: A Team Effort
This initiative aligns dropout prevention, intervention and reengagement efforts across OSPI, and engages other state agencies, statewide youth-serving organizations, and regional and local education agencies.

Project AWARE — Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education
Three school districts are pilots for the Project AWARE grant, which is designed to raise awareness of mental health issues among school-aged youth. Through Project AWARE schools train staff, families and community members in issues related to mental health.
