  Graduation a Team Effort

Graduation: A Team Effort (GATE) is a comprehensive dropout prevention, intervention, and re-engagement initiative sponsored by OSPI. Key to this effort is the belief in building on what works by using data to inform decisions that impact student success and well-being. We strive to include strategies that call for us to work together to prevent youth from dropping out, intervene in instances where students are at risk of leaving school, and re-engage those youth that have dropped out. We recognize the importance of the efforts of state, regional and local partners, and the shared responsibility we have to ensure the success of all students. A comprehensive Student Support Framework has been developed to help guide our work.

Pay for Actual Student Success (PASS) ActHB 1599
The PASS Act funds four programs to assist students in addressing their individual barriers to graduating from high school, and/or successfully transition from high school to continued education and careers.

Dropout Re-engagement / Student Retrieval Act — ESSHB 1418
The statewide dropout re-engagement system provides education and services to older youth, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of school or are not expected to graduate from high school by the age of 21.

Collaborative Partners and Advisory Committee Meetings
OSPI has convened a Collaborative Partners Oversight Group, bringing together leaders from education, social service, business, and community non-profit organizations. In addition, we have enlisted our partners in various workgroups.

Dropout Prevention Toolkit
Statewide definition of unexcused absences, dropout research and reports, and multiple resources for collaboration and working with data.
