Urgent Repair Grant Program

(Previously titled Small Repair Grant program)

August 12, 2011 Application Deadline

Where is the Urgent Repair Grant application located?
The application is located in the iGrants system, package 478. If you have problems accessing the system, please contact your District Security Manager.

What is the Urgent Repair Grant program for?
The Urgent Repair Grant program is solely intended for nonrecurring costs associated with necessary school facility repairs and renovations for unforeseen health and safety needs.

How much money is available through this program?
The 2011 legislature has appropriated $5,000,000 for the 2011-13 biennium’s Urgent Repair Grant program.

How much money is available for each grant?
One hundred thousand dollars is available for school districts that have not already received a small repair grant in the previous biennium. Payment to school districts will be on a reimbursement basis, and does not include indirect costs.

What type of project is eligible for an Urgent Repair Grant?
Projects may not be retroactive e.g. projects that are already completed or approved and scheduled by a district. Urgent Repair Grants must supplement and not supplant district funds.

Types of projects include (non-inclusive list):
Repair or replacement of a leaky roof, heating system, fire alarm or fire suppression systems, electrical system, ADA facility requirements as well as removal of asbestos/lead or other hazardous substances.

How will projects be prioritized?
Proposed projects will be judged on the merit of the project. Strong consideration will be given to the ability of the School district to pass levies and to capital and general fund balances as well as size of budget.

How long do we have to complete the projects?
The projects need to be completed, and final invoices submitted for reimbursement, on or before June 30, 2013. Since these grants are intended for urgent needs, we strongly recommend that you work as quickly as possible to complete the project and submit an invoice.
