ESD Professional Learning Opportunities
Each ESD provides a variety of math professional learning opportunities for educators, schools and districts.

Professional Learning Resources, Tools and Supports
Resources for teachers, instructional coaches and administrators to support math professional learning through workshops, PLCs, coaching, institutes, etc.

  • PD Modules and Courses
    Professional development modules ready to use in individual and group settings. Each module includes facilitator's instructions, presentations, video segments, and hands-on activities.

  • Instructional Practice Guides
    The Instructional Practice Guide includes coaching and lesson planning tools to help teachers and those who support teachers to make the Key Shifts in instructional practice required by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

  • Teaching for Robust Understanding of Mathematics
    The TRU Math Professional Development Tools, can be used by teacher and coach, by a professional learning community, or by teachers reflecting on their own practice, to enhance instruction along the lines that the TRU Math Scheme indicates are important.

  • Supporting 21st Century Math Teaching Modules
    Each module includes a PD session guide and handouts for teachers, as well as sample classroom materials and suggested lesson plans. Also included are videos of real teachers trying these techniques with their own classes, often for the first time, and discussing the results.

  • Culturally Responsive Teaching in Math
    (Video access password is math) Videos that discuss teaching strategies to support all students through building academic identities, mathematical discourse, and building on prior knowledge.

  • Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All
    The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics compiled an overview of eight research-based, highly effective teaching practices that are essential for a high-quality mathematics education for all students. What it will take to turn the opportunity of the Common Core into reality in every classroom, school, and district. Includes an e-book, webcasts, and PowerPoints.
