Environmental and Sustainability Education Specialty Area Endorsement
In 2009, the Professional Educators Standards Board (PESB) approved a new Specialty Area Endorsement in Environmental and Sustainability Education
(ESE). The endorsement consists of three main categories (Content, Instructional
Methodology, and Professional Competencies) containing 32 competencies. The
specialty endorsement in ESE is intended to create new roles and leadership
opportunities for teachers; offer students new opportunities for learning;
(e.g., senior projects related to ESE); and encourage interdisciplinary
teaching.
The following programs have been approved by the PESB to offer the ESE
endorsement. As additional programs apply to the PESB and receive approval
they will be added to this list. Please contact the universities directly
for more information about their offering of the ESE endorsement.
Professional Development Guidelines for Environmental and Sustainability Educators
