Professional development for instructional and classified staff is a significant factor within the Nine Characteristics of High-Performing Schools. At East Port Orchard, PD is integrated into everyone’s schedule and customized to build the necessary expertise — at the individual level. Taken as a whole, this approach to professional development has proven to deliver the best chance for success with the strategic objectives that drive school goals, and the instructional, assessment and student support frameworks in place.

A strong emphasis is placed on training staff in areas of most need. Feedback from learning and teaching focuses extensive and ongoing professional development. The support is also aligned with the school or district vision and objectives.
