Title I, Part A Improvement Award

The Title I Improvement Award is a recognition and cash award for Title I Schools that have made significant progress.

Who is eligible?
Schools that meet the following criteria will be considered for the award:

• Made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in school years ending in 2010 and 2011.
• Designated Title I for the past three years.
• Showing significant gains overall in mathematics and/or reading proficiency – preferably in subcategories such as African American, Hispanic and special education students.

What data are used to select recipients?
Schools are selected based on students' performance data on the state assessment test.
