Continue ― No?
Cadre 3 (2009-11) Peer Coaches who are unable or choose not to participate in Year 2 should notify their peer coach trainer ASAP. Year 2 funds will not distribute.

Continue ― Yes?
Cadre 3 peer coaches who want to continue with the program and are recommended by their trainer do not need to re-apply for Year 2.

Propose a Budget.
Continuing peer coaches, with their district office staff, must complete a proposed budget on iGrants during June, 2010. $4,500 becomes available July 1, 2010 for year 2.

How Much & How Do I Spend It?
Expend year 2 funding this way:

  • EPC training― $800
  • NCCE 2011 registration ― $250
  • NCCE 2011 and training travel ― $1200
  • Substitute/release time ― $750
  • Hardware and software ― meet the basics for your participating teacher first, then add new technology for you or your colleague ― $1500

We allow some budget flexibility. Contact Dennis Small, (360) 725-6384 for more information. If your district takes the allowable in directs from the grant award, the amount of money available for travel, substitutes, hardware and software will be less.

What Happens to Leftover Funds from 2010?
Grant funds you don't spend in 2009-10 will carry over to your 2010-11 budget. All carryover funds must be used for the Enhanced Peer Coaching Program.

If you need to move funds from one category to another, submit a budget revision in iGrants. Be aware that you need permission from Dennis Small, director, Educational Technology at OSPI to spend more than $6,000 for hardware and software over the two-year course of this grant.

Choose a Collaborating Teacher.
You must work with at least one additional participating teacher in Year 2, which can include the year 1 participating teacher. Here’s an exception: a peer coach who worked with two or more participating teachers in year 1 may elect to continue with one or more of those teachers.

What Is the Training Commitment?
Continuing peer coaches must attend 3-4 days of training during Year 2.

We recommend that your Year 1 participating teacher attend the 2011 NCCE conference in Portland March 4 and 5, 2011. The rule is that at least one individual per grant award (coach or participating teacher) must attend the conference. However, it's up to the coach and participating teacher(s) to decide who will attend ― coach, participating teacher or both if the funds allow.
