Career Tech Educator Certification

How do I BECOME CERTIFIED in Washington?

Regular CTE

For those who do not qualify for the initial CTE teaching certificate, there are two limited certificates available to meet the needs of employers:
NOTE: Individuals cannot request these certificates without coordinating with a school district or skills center.

Limited

Worksite Learning and Career Choices - WAC 181-77-068

Per WAC, the Professional Certification office cannot grant any CTE Conditionals or CTE Probationary certificate for Worksite Learning and/or Worksite Learning and Career Choices. Completion of the Worksite Learning course must be verified before Worksite Learning/Career Choices can be issued on a CTE Probationary, CTE Initial or CTE Continuing certificates. If you have completed the Worksite Learning course, and hold a CTE probationary, CTE initial or CTE continuing please use the Form 4075W and submit the signed original to our office and request the VCODES for Worksite Learning/Career Choices to be added to your certificate (at no charge to the applicant). For the CTE Probationary the teacher/applicant will need to enroll in the BLOCK I (college/university route) or BLOCK II (Business and Industry route program) in an area other than Worksite Learning/Career Choices and work towards obtaining the CTE Initial.
