Learning Standards to be Assessed
*Mathematics: Beginning in Spring 2011,
students take end-of-course exams, based on the 2008 Standards, in Algebra
I/Integrated I and Geometry/Integrated II. Students in the classes of 2013 and
2014 must pass one end-of-course math exam to meet the mathematics graduation
requirement. Students in the class of 2015 and beyond must pass two
end-of-course math exams to meet the mathematics graduation requirement. Students in middle school who take Algebra I/Integrated I or
Geometry/Integrated II will take the grade-level state MSP assessment (for NCLB
purposes) and the appropriate end-of-course exam.
**Science: Beginning in Spring 2012, students will take the biology end-of course exam, based on the 2009 standards. Students in the class of 2015 and beyond must pass the biology end-of-course exam to meet the science graduation requirement.
All students are tested on the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE), the
End-of-Course Exams, the grades 3-8 Measurements of Student Progress (MSP) or
the Washington Alternate Assessment System-Developmentally Appropriate
Proficiency Exam (WAAS-DAPE) or the Washington Alternate Assessment
System-Portfolio.
In spring 2012. Many schools will test online in grades 3-8 in reading,
mathematics and science.
