Assessment Graduation Requirements

Students Who Do Not Pass a State Exam
If a student attempts a state exam but does not pass it, he/she can meet assessment graduation requirements by passing state-approved alternatives, or Certificate of Academic Achievement (CAA) Options.

Students Receiving Special Education
The CIA is for some students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). As 10th graders, students in special education programs can earn a CIA by passing the HSPE/EOC Basic (passing state tests with a score of Level 2, “Basic,” or higher) or via the Washington Alternative Assessment System (WAAS)-Portfolio. In grades 11 and 12, students who have not yet earned a CIA may also use the Developmentally Appropriate Proficiency Exam (DAPE), which allows students to take the HSPE/EOC at a grade level that best matches their abilities.
