  The Arts

The Arts in Washington state include dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. Quality instruction in the Arts is provided by specialists and classroom teachers and supported by partnerships with professional organizations and community programs in the Arts.

Our continuous goal for the Arts is to offer and support a comprehensive and sequential, standards-based K-12 arts program, in dance, music, theatre and the visual arts, available to all learners in all 295 school districts in Washington state. Learn more about the Arts mission and vision.

Learning Standards
The Arts Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) describe what students should know and be able to do. The final draft of the K-12 Arts Learning Standards are now available.

Assessments (CBPAs)
The CBPAs are the state assessment models designed to help schools and districts determine whether students have met the Arts learning standards.

Annual High School Art Show
Throughout the year, students work on projects to submit to the OSPI Annual High School Art Show. The next art show is May 21, 2010.
